The Lone (Productive) Ranger

The Rangers are bad, except for the lone Ranger. Adolis Garcia has been brilliant since being called up to the big club. In 46 games, the lone productive Rangers has a slash line of .285/.321/.581. He is tied for second in the majors with 17 home runs. Garcia ranks 5th in RBI with 41.

On a team that has now lost a staggering 13 road game consecutively, Garcia has been one of the only bright spots. Becoming the American League rookie of the month for May made perfect sense. The Cuban born outfielder has also been playing some stellar defense, if you have not been watching. Adolis is literally doing it all.

Not Actually Alone

While Garcia has been doing it all, it has not actually been by himself. Isiah Kiner-Falefa has a total WAR (wins above replacement) of 2.5. He is first in defensive WAR in 2021 after the first two months of the season as well. Kiner-Falefa is also second in singles with 46.

Pitching is not dreadful. It is not great, but it could be worse. Wins continue to elude them, but not by much. While we all knew it would be a rough season, this has been hard for a lot of fans to watch. Ease of watching is never associated with long losing streaks.

On the Ranger Report Podcast we, questioned a few weeks ago if it was possible for the Rangers to finish close to a .500 ball club. I still had my doubts then, and I believe that they have been confirmed since that show. I had the Rangers with 67 wins before the season began, and I believe that is going to be pretty close.

Now, there always needs to be a good thing to look forward to on any bad team. The Rangers do have the lone productive Ranger, Adolis Garcia. The Rangers continue their series against the Rockies tonight and try to get that elusive road win.
