Number one prospect Josh Jung and Number two prospect Sam Huff are both back playing in the minor leagues. Jung at Frisco and Huff in Arizona. That is the good news.
Evan Carter, Down East outfielder and 18 year old is suffering from a stress fracture in his lower back according to Jeff Wilson. Also Carter, a Rangers second round pick in 2020, is hitting .236/.438/.387 with 2 homers, 12 RBI, 12 stolen bases and more walks than strikeouts (34/28). He was having a nice season. How long he will be out is still up in the air, but he will probably be back this season sometime.
T.K. Roby, right handed pitcher is dealing with elbow woes (per Evan Grant). Elbow is never a good injury for a pitcher. It usually means Tommy John surgery. Now if that is the case, We will not see Roby until 2023. He is 2-2 with a 2.35 ERA for Down East this season.
Now, Tyree Thompson will miss the rest of the season after having a brace inserted in his elbow. The right handed pitcher Tyree has a 2.22 ERA for Down East this season, and that will be his final since he will not be returning this season.
The Hickory Crawdads are the one Minor League team not battling for first in their respective league. No surprise that they have been hit with the injury bug. Hickory currently has nine on the injury list. The list includes infielder Justin Foscue, outfielder Ryan Anderson, and a slew of pitchers including Ricky Vanasco.
In conclusion the Rangers minor leagues are in pretty good shape. We shall see if they can keep it up for the whole season.
