Hitting Coach
The Rangers today fired hitting coach Thad Bosley. This move is a little confusing. The Rangers are the sixth-highest scoring offense in baseball with 291 runs and the fourth-highest batting average (.264). Their .431 slugging percentage also was third best in the Majors, while their 357 strikeouts, the fewest in baseball. So why get rid of Bosley? I do not know. Some of the players (Ian Kinsler) were really struggling, but over all the offense has been pretty good so far this season. I am sure that the real reason Bosley was fired will come out over the next few weeks. The Rangers have replaced him with Scott Coolbaugh, the hitting coach of the Round Rock Express.
Ian Kinsler Paternity Leave
Ian Kinsler and his wife Tess are ready to welcome their new baby into the world and Kinsler will be there for it. He will miss a maximum of 3 games, and will be back by Friday. The Rangers have called up Chris Davis to replace Kinsler on the roster, and he is playing third base tonight. I expect that Michael Young will be the second baseman for the time that Kinsler will be missing.
Harrison and Lewis
I have been watching baseball for a long time, and I say that now is no time to start worrying about Harrison and Lewis. Everyone has a bad game, and the Tigers are playing amazing right now (the same way the Heat thought they would play). It is hard to beat any team that is playing as well as the Tigers are right now, especially when you have a bad game. If I were you, I would not give up the those guys just yet.
Derek Holland
Nathan Hague and I had the chance to interview Derek Holland earlier today we will play that interview on tonight’s show on BTR. I will post the link to the show here in a little bit.
