Rangers and Twins Review/Preview

The Rangers behind Alexi Ogando took care of buisness 2 nights ago against the Detroit Tigers, avoiding being swept by them. And the bats came alive too. On the Thad Bosley situation, Josh Hamilton said that he was a professional guy whose personality just did not fit with the clubhouse atmosphere. Good luck to him wherever he gets a job.

Up next, the Rangers have the struggling Twins, but don’t let that fool you. The Rangers did very poorly against the Twins last season and they tend to play bad against the Twinkies over all. The Ranger are the much hotter team right now, and I believe that if this series was going on in Arlington they would have a chance to take 3 out of the 4 games, but I am not sure they will do better than a split against the Twins in Minnesota.

Thursday, June 9, 2011 – Holland (5-1, 4.36) v Blackburn (5-4, 3.57)

Derek Holland was good, I mean he had 10 strikeouts, buthe once again let the bad inning get away from him, giving up a 3 run HR with two outs. Blackburn did not pitch that well either, letting a 3 run lead slip away. Arthur Rhodes continues the bull pen struggles, as he failed to get his out on his lefty lefty matchup. A very disappointing loss for the Rangers.

Friday, June 10, 2011 – Wilson (6-3, 3.03) v. Duensing (3-5, 4.73)

C.J. has been good this season, and he is facing a depleted Twins ballclub. Since Holland got 10 k’s last night, I expect C.J. to have another one of his big strikeout games. Look for C.J. to have 10+ against the Twins, and look for the Rangers bats to light up Duensing. I think the Rangers have a good chance of blowing out the Twins in this game, if they can find a way to finally win in Minnesota’s new ballpark. Duensing pitched well in his last start against he Royals, hopefully he does not pitch well tonight!

Saturday, June 11, 2011 – Lewis (5-6, 4.37) v. Baker (3-4, 3.86)

The question is, which Colby Lewis will show up. If it is the Lewis from his last start, the Rangers are in trouble and may need to start looking for help at the starting pitching position. If he is good, the Rangers will win easily. If not, well, the Rangers will get embarrassed on the FOX Saturday game of the week. I think the Rangers lose this one.

Sunday, June 12, 2011 – Harrison (5-5, 3.48) v. Liriano (3-6, 5.20)

Harry has a chance to be a great pitcher, and I hope he starts showing that soon. Like Holland, Harrison has great stuff, and I hope he starts using it soon! The Rangers should win this one, the way they have been playing lately, and Liriano has not pitched well this season. Look for the Rangers to head to NY with a 2-2 split with the Twins and get ready for the Yankees!!
