The Texas Rangers traded Isiah-Kiner Falefa for Mitch Garver during the 2022 off-season. There are many Rangers fans that are still not happy about it. I though I would take the opportunity to help you get to know Mitch Garver.
Early Career
Garver was born in January of 1991 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He grew up there and attended La Cueva High School in Albuquerque.
He was named male athlete of he year his senior year in high school. Garver batted an astounding .521 with 10 home runs.
After high school Garver attended The University of New Mexico where he spent parts of three season before being drafted.
Pro Career
So Garver was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 9th round of the 2013 draft. He bounced around the minors for a couple years, playing in the Arizona Fall League in 2015 and 2016.
The Twins added Garver to their 40 man roster after the 2016 season. In August of 2017, Mitch made his debut with the organization. Garver got into 23 games that season.
He would spend the next four season with the team. He hit 39 home runs in 2019 and impressed many people with his impressive offensive season.
Since getting into 93 games in 2019, Mitch has struggled with injury. 2020 saw him play in 23 games (out of 60) and 2021 saw him get into 68 games.
Texas Rangers
The Ranger traded IKF and Ronny Henriquez for Garver a few weeks ago. The Ranger believe that he is a huge upgrade over what they currently have offensively. He has the potential and has shown it, the question is can he stay healthy.
Garver says he feels good and is ready to go. If he produces like he did in 2019 the Rangers got a steal. Only time will tell.
