Okay, I have put this off long enough. The trade deadline is quickly approaching and, the Rangers are going to be major players again in the trade market in 2011. The Rangers pen is looking a lot better than it did a few weeks ago, but they still need help in that department, in the catching department and they have way to many outfielders. So who is interested and who will the Rangers deal for. Again, I have no official affiliation with the ball club, these are just my guesses as a fan.
San Francisco Giants:
The Giants are interested in Taylor Teagarden as a possible catcher solution right now, so lets look at what they got at the major league level that we could trade for.
Guillermo Mota – so far this season he is 2-2 with a 3.89 ERA in 25 games. He has 30 so’s and only 12 bb’s.
Ramon Ramirez – he is 2-0 with a 1.50 ERA in 29 games so far. He has 27 so’s and 11 bb’s.
Javier Lopez – Lopez is 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA in 34 games for the Giants. His so to bb numbers are 20-15.
Santiago Casilla – so far, he is 0-1 with a 1.50 ERA in 12 games. He has struck out 7 and walked 6.
Sergio Romo – Romo (not Tony btw) 3-0 with a 2.38 ERA in 32 games. He has struck out 35 and walked only 4.
Jeremy Affeldt – he is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 35 games. strikeouts: 28, walks: 11.
That is who the Giants have available in their bull pen right now. I would probably ask for Affeldt, Romo or Mota if I were the Rangers.
Washington Nationals
The Rangers have had discussions with the Nats about both Todd Coffey (3-0, 2.25 ERA ) and Tyler Clippard ( 0-0, 1.94 ERA), and I bet the Rangers would also try to grab some of the Nationals big prospects in the wake of a trade with them. The Rangers would have to give up someone like Teagarden and Davis, and maybe a Borbon or Murphy to get this done, but I think that they would be willing to.
The Rangers have also showed interest in Koji Uehara, Kevin Gregg and Jim Johnson (Bal), Joakim Soria (KC) and Kerry Wood (CHC). Out of those guys I would like to see Gregg and Johnson, or Soria, who could be the close of the future for the Rangers.
Who will we lose?
I think that the Rangers are going to lose at least two of these players plus a lesser known prospect or two.

Julio Borbon
David Murphy
Endy Chavez
