The Round Rock Express are rolling in in 2022. They have a record of 14-6, and they have a team ERA of 3.50.
Glenn Otto, Cole Winn, Jake Latz and A.J. Alexy have been brilliant so far for the Express. Tyson Miller has pitched 15 innings and has an ERA of 1.20 with 19 strikeouts.
Round Rock is filled with players that Rangers fans know the names of. Also a good portion of these players will see time with the Rangers in 2022.
Bubba Thompson leads the offense with a .387/.387/.565 slash line. Second is Leody Taveres with a .378/.395/6.35 slash line with 16 strikeouts and 3 home runs. If Leody keeps playing the way he has been playing, the Rangers are going to have to call him up.
Sam Huff is also playing well is his first season at AAA ball. He has replaced Jonah Heim on the major league club and Heim is currently on paternity leave.
Other players to watch for if you can are the two shortstops Davis Wendzel and Josh Smith. Shertan Apolstle has been struggling so far in 2022, hopefully he will come around.
As a team Round Rock leads the Pacific Coast League in batting average with a mark of .272. The only complaint I have so far about this team is they are dead last in walks by a lot. They have 24 less walks than the next team.
As Frisco improves and players from A ball start getting callups, the makeup of this team will begin to change. As of right now they are playing well and seem to be meshing as a team nicely.
The Rangers seem to want to keep a core group of players together as they move through the system, so I see several coming up from Frisco when it happens.
If Round Rock can keep rolling like they have so far in 2022, I believe we will see on of the best years the Express has had as a part of the Rangers system.
Up next the Express continue their series against Salt Lake. If you get a chance you should go watch the future of the Rangers play ball!
