After a rough start to Wednesday nights game, Martin Perez settled in nicely. After taking a ball off his right calf in the second inning, Chris Woodward thought he was not going to make it deep into the game.
“I went out there and I didn’t think he was going to make it through two or three,” Woodward said according to the Texas Rangers website.
Martin Perez battled through seven innings not being able to use his lower half like he normally would. He walked the opening batters in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. He avoided any damage.
Thanks, Philly Fan
So a Philly fan helped the Rangers to a win with some nice fan interference. Adolis Garcia made a questionable decision at best trying to take home on a pop out to the Phillies third baseman. It didn’t end well.
Marcus Semien also tried to steal second with two outs in the ninth which ended the Rangers chance at taking a lead.
Ghost runners aside, the Rangers still would have won thanks to the speed of pinch runner Eli White and the bat of Brad Miller. The Rangers have now won four games in a row for the first time in 2022.
Up Next
Next, the Rangers travel to the Bronx to take on the Yankees over the weekend. They will face the likes of Joey Gallo, Jose Trevino and the rest of the Yankees.
Glenn Otto takes the ball for the Rangers on Friday. He has begun the season very well since being called up.
I’ll be happy if the Rangers manage to take 1 out of three from the surging Yankees.
