Jack Leiter has been good for the RoughRiders in 2022. Going into Saturday Leiter was 0-2 with a ERA a little over 2.
The Rangers are seeing what they were hoping to see from the young righty so far. He had what can only be described as his best start of the season on Saturday night in Frisco.
Not only did he pitch six innings and strikeout five, he did not walk a batter for the first time in his pro career. He has only walked one in the past two starts.
“I’ve just been working on being more efficient with my body, being more efficient with my pitches, being more on line to the plate and simplifying everything,” Leiter said to MLB.om
After giving up a hit in each of the first two innings, Leiter retired the last 15 batters faced. He was very efficient with his 67.1% strike rate.
There have been positives in every Leiter start. He has kept runs off the board, even with the walks and hits he surrendered in his first few starts. His control seems to be improving and his demeanor on the mound has looked good all season.
Jack Leiter seems to be keeping his head down and just doing his job. One thing I noticed when I had the chance to talk with him at media day a few weeks back is he is very subdued and professional.
Now if you have not had the chance to see him in action yet I highly recommend it. He has electric stuff and hitters look off-balance the entire time he is pitching.
No matter how he pitches in 2022, Jack Leiter will not be in the majors this season. Most likely he will move to Round Rock at some point.
