The Rangers got a much needed sweep of the Baltimore Orioles last evening. The offense was again very good, and I was pleased that they were able to do most of the damage without the long ball. And Alexi Ogando finished his first half with some confidence. He pitched another quality start (maybe ESPN should figure out what a quality start is, since last evening Baseball Tonight said that Ogando was once again knocked around) and should be good to go for the second half of the season, if he can keep pitching the way he has in his last 2 starts. The Texas Rangers as a whole have not won the third game of any series in quite some time, so it was good to see them get it done last night. Especially because they have been playing last place teams. Baltimore is bad, and the Rangers treated them as such. If this team can sweep the A’s next, including the replay of the 7-0 game that was not to be, the Rangers will head into the All-Star break with a record that is 10 games over .500 (51-41). I see them probably splitting the series with Oakland, which would make their record 49-43, which is still 6 games over. Not bad, but they should be better. This Rangers team has all the talent in the world, and I expect them to show it in the second half of the season and win the majority of the series they have left. Lets finish this week on a 7 game win streak Rangers, and go into the break feeling pretty good about ourselves.
