As you have heard by now, firefighter Shannon Stone was killed last evening at the Ballpark in Arlington trying to catch a foul ball tossed to him by Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton. This is a tragedy beyond words for the wife, child and extended family of Mr. Stone and our thoughts a prayers go out to the Stone family. The Rangers and the Athletics will wear black ribbons during tonight’s game in honor of Mr. Stone’s death. Nolan Ryan described it as on of the worst things he has seen happen at the ballpark in all his years of baseball. Lets take this moment to remember what life is all about. It is not about baseball or sports or souvenirs or anything like that, it is about life and family and enjoying them both while we can. A freak accident like this is hard to understand and even harder to come to grips with. Please, as you watch tonight’s game, pray or think a good thought for the Stone family, and for Josh Hamilton who, no matter what he says, has to be feeling terrible about what happened. Josh will play tonight, but I do not think he will be the only player playing with a heavy heart.I think we will all watch and play with a heavy heart tonight.
