The minor league season is in full swing and guys are starting to get into a rhythm in this weeks review. We’ll take our (usually) weekly look down on the Rangers farm.
Down East Wood Ducks: (17-23)
The Woodies are 4-6 in their last ten games. The Rangers Low-A Affiliate has been pitching pretty well as of late.
On the pitching side, Mitch Bratt (1.29 ERA in the past two starts) and Gavin Collyer (2.70 ERA in his past two starts) have been pitching really well. Larson Kindreich has 14 k’s in his past 10.2 innings and Josh Stephan has 15 k’s in his past 12 innings.
At the plate over the past two weeks Alejandro Osuna has a slash line of .389/.488/.611 with 2 homers and 9 RBI. Osuna has an OPS of 1.099.
Cam Cauley has struggled a bit over the past two weeks with a slash line of .171/.227/.191 with 13 k’s in his last 41 at bats.
Jose Acosta is also struggling at the plate over the past two weeks. He has not had a hit in the past 2 weeks. although he only has 11 at bats.
Hickory Crawdads: (24-16)
The Dads are 8-2 in their last ten games. They have been both hitting and pitching pretty well.
Now on the pitching side of things Mason Englert 14 k’s in his last 9.2 innings pitched and has pitched pretty well all season.
Tekoah Roby has been struggling a bit but has been a little better over his past two starts. He is 1-1 with a 4.35 ERA in that time.
Rickey Vanasco is starting to settle in as well, with a 3.00 ERA over the past two weeks.
In the pen John Matthews is striking out a player per inning and both Marc Church and Joe Corbett have been great as well.
On the offensive side Trevor Hauver has been lighting it up. He is posting a slash line of .364/.488/.788 with 4 home runs and 13 RBI over the past 15 days. He has an OPS of 1.276.
Angel Aponte has a .417 average in that same period of time, and Luis Angel Acuna is batting .333 as well. Besides Hauver, Evan Carter has 3 home runs in the last 15 days as well.
Frisco RoughRiders: (22-17)
The Riders are 5-5 in their last 10 games. Everyone cares about Jack Leiter, but Cole Ragans has been tearing it up as well.
Ragans is 4-1 with a 2.88 ERA so far this season, he is 2-0 with a 4.09 ERA over the past two weeks. Leiter is 0-2 with a 21.94 ERA in has last two starts, but he has a 6.38 ERA for the year.
Double A hitters are much better than even single A hitters, and it is now time for the players to adjust to that and turn their ERA around.
Out of the pen Chase Lee still has not given up a run at the AA level. Tai Tiedemann and Grant Anderson are also perfect over the past two weeks.
On the offensive side Dustin Harris has 5 home runs and 14 RBI in the last 15 days. Trey Hair has 4 homers and Blain Crim has 3.
Ezequiel Duran, J.P. Martinez and David Garcia have all been on a tear of late as well. I know we say this every week, but Frisco is stacked.
Round Rock Express: (27-16)
Round Rock is 7-3 in their last 10 games. Matt Carpenter is no longer with the team, as he opted out. He is a good dude and I’m sad to see him go, but totally understand.
Starting pitchers have been giving up some runs of late. Cole Winn (ERA of 6.55 in the last 5 days), Jake Latz (ERA of 7.04 in the last 15 days), A.J. Alexy (ERA of 9.45 in the last 15 days) and Spencer Howard (ERA of 8.10 in the past 15 days).
In the bullpen names like Ryder Ryan (3.60 ERA in the past two weeks) and Hever Bueno (2.70 ERA in the last two weeks) are pitching well, while names like Daniel Robert (6.75 ERA for the past two weeks) and Yerry Rodriguez (10.80 ERA in the past two weeks) are struggling.
On the offensive side of the ball over the past two weeks Catcher Yohel Pozo is hitting .435, Nick Solak is batting .389, Bubba Thompson is hitting .282 with 7 stolen bases and Leody Tavares has cooled off a bit hitting .167.
Leody is still hitting .306 on the season.
The Rangers farm system is an extremely strong system and Rangers fans should be excited about what is to come soon after this review!
