Glenn Otto took the ball to try and end the Texas Rangers 3 game losing streak. Otto, a rookie, did just that.
Now he had some help from Mitch Garver and Kole Calhoun. He also had some help from his defense and his bullpen. It was a good over all win for the Rangers.
The big moment came with runners on the corners with one out in the fourth inning. Otto was able to get Kurt Suzuki to ground into an inning ending double play.
“To be able to battle and get outs … it’s good,” Glenn Otto said afterward according to the Rangers Today Newsletter ($5.99 a month or $60 a year). “No matter who’s standing there, I want to be able to execute and pitch my game.”
The Rangers were able to put up seven runs in the win. It was nice to see the offense getting back on track.
Sam Huff played first in place of the struggling Nathaniel Lowe. You may see more of that going forward.
The Rangers have a four game series up against the Oakland Athletics starting tonight. Martin Perez will go for the Rangers Thursday. Jon Gray will pitch Friday, Taylor Hearn on Saturday and Dane Dunning will go on Sunday.
As the calendar turns over to June, expect to see some movement both in the minors and majors. Glenn Otto is not going anywhere, but some other players may be. Stay tuned to the Ranger Report as we bring you all the news and opinion we can!
