Texas Rangers Continue Their Roller Coaster Ride

ROUND ROCK – Since I’m covering Round Rock this week (apparently I’ve been sent down) I have not watched the Rangers much. I didn’t like what I saw today.

The Rangers are struggling to score runs, and they are having an even bigger problem stopping runs. Today they fell 9-2 to the Astros. The Houston club took 2 out of 3 from the Texas Rangers.

Tyson Miller started the game and lasted 0.2 innings giving up 6 runs on 4 hits and two walks. It never really got better.

Kolby Allard gave up the other three runs in 5 innings pitched. He was just there to eat up some innings. The big news is that Charlie Culberson now has an ERA of 0.00 after 1 inning pitched!

The way the game on Tuesday ended left a bad taste in Rangers fans mouths, and today’s game did nothing to improve that. Pitching is once again the problem, but it is not the only problem.

The Texas Rangers accomplished 2 runs on just 4 hits. You don’t win many games with 4 hits in Major League Baseball.

Of course they had a great game on Monday night with a come from behind win. Up next they have 4 against the Tigers.

Detroit is one of the teams that he Rangers should be able to win the series. While the Rangers have only won 4 of their last 10 games, the Tigers have won 3 of their last 10.

Now sitting at 4 games under .500, the team could really use a good series in Detroit. Martin Perez tries to bounce back from a bad start (by his standards this season).

Following him the Rangers will send Jon Gray, Taylor Hearn and Dane Dunning to finish out the Tigers series. All 4 games should be winnable.

Thanks as always for sticking with us here at the Ranger Report and the Podcast. We couldn’t do it without y’all!
