The next player on our list is the number 19 Texas Rangers prospect Thomas Saggese. The right-handed hitting infield prospect for the Rangers began the season in Hickory. He would later finish with the RoughRiders as part of the championship team.
While playing for the Crawdads, Saggese had a slash line of .308/.359/.407/.846 with 14 homers and 61 RBI. He only got 21 at bats with Frisco but made it count. He had an OPS of 1.266.
Saggese is projected to be a 20+ homer a season guy as he ages and gets stronger according to MLB.com. He does strike out a bit more than the team would like, but he walks consistently as well.
What You Need To Know
The 20-year-old Saggese is primed to have a really great 2023 after an excellent 2022. Like a majority of his infield teammates, he is currently blocked at the major league level.
I could see him being used in some sort of trade package in the near future as the Rangers try to use prospects to build their team for 2023. There are a lot of teams out there that could use the type of offensive talent that Saggese brings, even as a prospect.
Outlook
If he stays with the organization, I believe that he will begin 2023 in Frisco and will bat around the .300 mark again. They may want to move him to either third or second. His arm projects him as a better second baseman than third baseman.
My belief is that another team will want him in many deals this off-season. Either way, this is a player that I project will be playing in the Major Leagues at some point in the future of his career.
