Rangers fans have high expectations. The Texas Rangers made some really large acquisitions during the winter of 2022. Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heany, Jake Odorizzi, Martin Perez, Nathan Evoldi just to name a few.
The Texas Rangers have a rotation that most teams would enjoy having. IF they can stay healthy.
The baseball world expects that deGrom will not make it through the entire season. He may not, we will have to wait and see.
The team does have some good options if injuries occur of Dane Dunning, Cole Ragans, Glenn Otto and more.
The Rangers offense is not bad either. They scored some runs in 2022.
With the ban on the shift and the larger bases, the offense should be better in 2023 for Texas.
The problem is I still do not believe they are a World Series contender at this point. I do believe they are a playoff team however.
It will be interesting to see how team chemistry is with all the new faces including the manager Bruce Bochy and the pitching coach Mike Maddux. Will it take them a while to mesh?
While I think this is a talented team, I think expecting them to contend in the American League for the bid to play in the World Series is premature. They have more work to do.
Their bullpen needs help, or someone to step up like Brock Burke did in 2022. They have guys that can be that type of pitcher that are still a year away from the majors.
No one saw 2010 coming, so I could be totally wrong. I have covered this team for over a decade and I just don’t see it making it to a World Series in 2023.
So what are your expectations? Do you think they have what it takes? Let me know in the comments or on Facebook or Twitter.
