Texas Rangers fans still have a soft sport for Elvis Andrus. So it was with excitement that I read yesterday that Elvis reached hit number 2,000 in his career.
Andrus spent 12 season with the Rangers, racking up 1,743 hits in his time with the club. Elvis was a multi time All-Star for Texas and was a part of the two American League Championship teams in 2010 and 2011.
According to James Fegan of the Athletic, Andrus plans on giving the ball to his mother. She is requesting it.
Andrus will always be best known for his time in Texas, and he will most likely retire as a Ranger. He was a fan favorite for many years.
Elvis joins a club of active players over 2,000 hits that includes names such as Miguel Cabrera (3090), Joey Votto (2,093) and former Ranger Nelson Cruz (2,019).
“Yeah, it’s a great achievement. It’s a lot of hits. It’s a lot of memories,” said Andrus. “Every hit means a lot from the first one to 2,000 today. It means a lot for me and the family, and the people who have helped me through my career.” MLB.com
Now to remind everyone, the Rangers received Jonah Heim and Dane Acker in the Elvis Andrus trade with the Athletics. Even though fans were sad to see him go, Heim has turned into a great catcher in the majors.
Dane Acker is on a path to be a really nice pitcher as well. The Rangers did well with that trade. We don’t talk about Khris Davis.
Congratulations to Elvis on his 2,000th hit in the majors. I’m glad to see he is still playing at a high level and still doing well. Rangers fans everywhere are still pulling for him.
