Last Night, the Rangers Were Cruzing!

I don’t know if you watched last nights game between the Rangers and the Blue Jays or not, but if you did you know that the slumping Nelson Cruz went off. Nelly had 8 rbi’s, and the team had 12 runs total. That means Nelly accounted for 2/3rds of the Rangers runs. It was nice to see Nelly back to his old self, especially after the news that we got about Adrian Beltre’s injury. From the way Beltre describes the way he felt when he injured it, it sounds like a 60-day DL kind of thing to me. Beltre was quoted as saying “I felt a really hard grab, I felt like I was going to tear my leg, but it didn’t get to that point. But I feel bad.”
I do not like the sound of that at all. Does this change the trade thoughts of a franchise who was looking to get rid of one Chris Davis before the trade deadline? We all know Chris is a great defensive talent. Or do we leave the job to Michael Young and Omar Quintanilla, who has a career MLB batting average of .220. I say bring up Davis and let him and Young trade off 3rd. But we will see later today what the prognosis is on Beltre’s hammy.
The Rangers are now 57-43, 3 games above the Angels. There is too much season left to start talking about magic numbers and all that, But I believe if the Rangers finish the season with a record just a clip above .500 from this point on, they have an excellent chance of once again winning the West. But lets not look that far ahead yet. Lets see what Matty Harrison can do to the Blue Jays lineup tonight, and, if he stays strong like he has the past few starts, it is going to be another long night for the Blue Jays, and lets hope it is.
