Texas Rangers fans have waited a long time for this. In 2011, the Rangers fell devastatingly short of their goal of winning a World Series.
We don’t talk about 2011 here. The pain is still real 12 years later.
After winning game 4 on Tuesday, the Rangers extended their road winning streak to 10 as they dismantled the Diamondbacks Tuesday night.
Some Texas fans have been following the team since the franchise moved to Arlington back in 1972. Those fans as well as newer Rangers fans have only seen this happen a handful of time.
What Could Be For Rangers Fans
As I write this today, there is an attempt to keep my emotions down on what could be. I didn’t control my emotions in 2011, and it was difficult to recover from, as it was for most fans.
An understanding that history is on the Rangers side does not help. Fans have seen the Texas Rangers give it away before.
The fan base is ready for this. The DFW area is ready for this.
2011’s sting can finally be healed if the Rangers can finish the job in 2023. No one, myself included, expected them to be a part of the Fall Classic.
To say that it is now inevitable is something that can’t be done by myself. I won’t let my emotions take over tonight during game 5.
Speaking For Myself
But I am hopeful. What the 2023 Texas Rangers have done is once again inspired me to believe that it can happen for them.
They have the offense, they have the pitching. Bruce Bochy is obviously the right manager.
All the pieces are there and in place. Is the bullpen perfect? Absolutely not.
But it has played above itself this post season, even with the struggles on Tuesday.
My hope is that Rangers fans can enjoy game 5 on Wednesday night. Take it all in and have pure joy watching the game be played.
I can’t tell you how I will react if the Rangers do go on to win it all. What I can tell you is how I will react if they don’t.
People that don’t watch or follow sports don’t understand the type of pain the Texas Rangers fan base went through for the past 12 years.
They don’t understand how it feels whenever anyone brings up game 6 of the 2011 Fall Classic.
There is nothing wrong with not following sports, but for the collection of people that do, a Texas Rangers Championship will change our outlook on life for the next 5 months and beyond.
As this article comes to a close, my takeaway from all this rambling is that I am ready for celebrating, but I am prepared to be disappointed.
Here’s hoping that this time around the fanbase will be rewarded for years of suffering. Enjoy the remainder of the World Series Texas Rangers fans.
